“It’s more important for a photographer to have very good boots, then to have a very good camera.”

Stern Park

Chatfield State Park is something of an enigma. Its 6.086 square miles includes 1,423 acre reservoir, several forest areas, watersheds, rivers and grasslands. I have spent considerable time in this park because I experience something new with each visit.

Additionally, an ongoing doubt presents both challenges as well as opportunities. Balancing the water needs of a growing Denver community is a daily concern though the low water levels allows for reforestation.

For a photographer, the everchanging conditions is both fascinating and at times jarring. With my background, I found myself being draw in by not only by the beauty of the park but also the almost daily change of conditions of the varied ecosystems.
